Merit needs a larger team of volunteers!

Many hands make light work!

Being a part of a charter school requires parents to be actively involved and to volunteer their time and talents to the well being of their child’s education. What a wonderful opportunity! The first is to be involved with our child and their education. Second, is to give back to the school that gives so much to our children. Merit asks that every family volunteer a total of a minimum of 30 hours per school year. Much of this is at the school and some can be done at home or off hours. Right now we have less than TEN percent of our families that have been able to contribute. We can accomplish so many more great things we everyone involved. We also get funding for volunteer hours done at school.

If you have not yet created an account, please click on create an account and follow the instructions.
Please keep track of your hours the best you can. We receive funding for hours donated by volunteers.

People that can help: Parents, Grandparents, Older Siblings, Aunts, Uncles, etc.

Life is busy! Some of us have small children at home, work outside the home, are single parents, go to school, etc. Merit is well aware of this, so there are many different ways and opportunities for us to donate our time and talents. Below are some areas where help is needed and enough times and opportunities for everyone to help.

  • Lunch

You do not have to volunteer each day. You can choose to help one day or all five days!

Mon-Friday 11:45 to 12:30 Serving, Data entry of lunch numbers. etc.

  • Library

Our librarian needs help getting the books cleaned, marked, entered and organized. Her standard work hours are below; however, if you can help and are only available on days other than the standard times, we can make arrangements on the times you are available. Again, you don’t have to work all day each day, only the hours you can arrange.

Standard Dates: Mon, Wed, Fri School Hours

By Appointment: Tues, Thurs, Sat or Evenings

  • Substitutes (Non-Paid) and Tutors

You don’t have to be a teacher to substitute. The dates substitutes are needed are usually planned at least a week in advance. The class work and instructions are always given in advance. We also need tutors to help after school, especially with Math and English. Please HELP sub or tutor.

  • Marketing

Supervise the creation of our weekly newspaper article for the local newspapers.

  • Graduation

Preparation for graduation will be coming upon us quickly. We need many volunteers to organize all of the graduation logistics.

  • Food

Food donations for parent teacher’s conferences and other school activities as planned.

  • Fundraising

Calling local businesses for donations and support for activities throughout the year.

There is a time and opportunity for everyone to help. Please call or email us and let us know what you or your family can do.

Thank you,

Clare Padilla and Kathryn Chapman
